On Friday, the Asian Games women’s hockey final between India and China was delayed by 45 minutes after the teams’ buses were caught in a traffic jam on the way to Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium, PTI reported.
An anonymous official said the congestion stemmed from an accident unrelated to the team transports, pushing the kickoff from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., according to the venue’s announcement.
The match offers India a chance to end a 44‑year gold drought and secure direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. India previously won the women’s hockey gold only in 1982 and were runners‑up in 1998 and 2018.
