ADIPEC chair says energy reserves build trust and reliability

Chair Abdulmunim Al Kindy highlighted how big reserves and redundancy boost confidence amid global disruptions.

Abu Dhabi – ADIPEC Chair Abdulmunim Al Kindy told Gulf News that large energy reserves give a country assured market access and the reliability to move energy wherever it is sourced, earning trust from customers.

Al Kindy said the leadership, management and employees of ADNOC are determined to keep operations running and continue delivering to those who trust their capability. He added that the company had planned for redundancy a decade ago, building assets with the resilience required to sustain production levels despite regional challenges.

Technical conference chair Haitham Al Jenaibi, EVP of Development & Production (Gas) at ADNOC Upstream, said the ADIPEC 2026 Technical Conference measures success by how many ideas move from technical feasibility to commercial projects. He described helping attendees turn feasible ideas into commercial projects as a win for the industry.

Al Jenaibi said the event also offers SMEs exposure to innovators, resilience practices, technology adoption and niche ideas, expecting participants to bring back insights for future proposals.

Al Juneibi noted that early concerns about geopolitical events affecting international attendance have not materialised, with participation larger than ever and submissions rising from 27 new countries compared with the previous year.

Addressing recent disruptions, Al Kindy said ADNOC’s long‑term investment in redundancy is now paying off, even though the spending was controversial at the time. He said partners had questioned the flexibility built into assets, including interconnections and additional procurement, but the company pursued those projects “at great expense, even though at the time they didn’t make any commercial sense.”
