Abu Wadee, a 34‑year‑old Palestinian asylum seeker living in a Serco‑run house of multiple occupancy in Corby, Northamptonshire, said he wants to remain in his UK asylum home, according to the Daily Mail.

What happened

Wadee arrived in the United Kingdom on a small boat in March 2025. He was later identified by the Mail on Sunday as a former member of a Hamas‑affiliated "tyre‑burning unit" that threw fire‑bombs and rocks at Israeli border forces. After a nine‑month prison term, he was released in December 2025 and placed in the Corby HMO with three other migrants.

What the reports add

The Daily Mail reported that Wadee posted a TikTok video urging locals to shout "Free Palestine" and that his TikTok account, which had about 20,000 followers, was deleted on Wednesday. The newspaper also noted that he was tracked down by the Northamptonshire Telegraph, where he told reporter Kate Cronin he no longer supports Hamas and has Jewish friends.

What was said

When asked about his current stance, Wadee told the Telegraph, "No, no, no. I love England, I love Corby. Everyone knows that Hamas is a terrorist organisation that would kill us if we didn't speak against the Jews while living there." The Daily Mail quoted him as saying his support for Hamas was given under duress eight years ago.

How it came about

Wadee’s arrival and subsequent imprisonment followed his posting of a video calling for the deaths of Jews. After his release, he was placed in a taxpayer‑funded asylum home, where he later claimed his human‑rights were being infringed and that no lawyer would help him stay. Police and a local housing officer attended the HMO on the morning of 30 September 2026 after Wadee left the property in a taxi.
